Determinations

This page provides a brief of discretionary determinations and any subsequent penalties imposed by the association for various breaches. It is not intended as a comprehensive report of decisions made in this regard.

Mandatory penalties and fines incurred relative to them for playing ineligible players, such as are routinely imposed where a match result is not involved, are not included here. Nor are the 'Code Violations' [rule 10(b)(ii)] and their ultimate consequences, routinely issued by umpires. Nevertheless, it bears noting that such fines as high as $200 for each infraction have been applied with at least one club suffering a total of $400 in fines for breaching player eligibility rules where match points were not at issue.

In addition to these and other such consequential penalties applied in accordance with our rules and regulations the following have resulted from hearings and/or investigation conducted by various committees and tribunals since the beginning of season 2007/08. It should be noted that the term of suspensions may be subject to certain conditions where they relate to an ensuing season. The commencement date is generally that on which a determination was made/notified and from which time sentences are applicable while the 'end-date' is fully inclusive.

NOTE:   At its 2009/10 pre-season meeting the BHRDCA Committee of Management began implementing tough new sentencing guidelines for determination of all discretionary penalties, including suspensions. Individuals and clubs found to have breached association rules that are consequently subject to such penalties can expect to be dealt with much more severely than might have been the case a few years previous. For example, anyone who thinks it is OK to assault another at matches under the auspices of our association might find they have years rather than weeks to ponder that decision.
