Online Honour Board
The Honour Board, subject to adjustments from time to time, being a 'work in progress' will ultimately become an accurate record of BHRDCA's past officials. The information shown to date has been largely transcribed from the book "BHRDCA History1894-1994: 100 Years Not Out" which was sourced (in part) from the memories of various individuals where formal records were not available. Such research is often flawed and already several likely errors have been identified but before anything is amended all effort will be made to ensure that any 'tampering' provides more and not less accuracy.

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING ?

Club Records - Establishing a Register   (posted 16 Sep '07)

Requests from clubs for match report details from specific games, some decades ago, are becoming common as clubs recognize the increasing demands of their members for visible links to their history. In an attempt to make their search easier the BHRDCA will begin building a register of extant documentation related to the history of our affiliates.

If your club has past records, particularly old scorebooks, you are invited to email the relevant particulars to the Secretary for inclusion on such a register. It is hoped that club officials searching for their past can ultimately refer to this register and determine if the records they need are in fact available and where they can enquire for copies. When notifying of extant scorebooks please be sure to note the club, season, grade and age-group as a minimum. It would also assist greatly if anyone has copies of old fixtures. The association has a fair collection of these from relatively recent seasons but as expected they become more scarce the further into our past we delve.

On another matter, an e-Honour Board which has been researched over the winter months will soon begin to take shape on the website. Once posted, anyone with information that may correct errors or omissions is encouraged to share it with the BHRDCA by email.

Earlier date for BHRDCA by 4 Years   (posted 28 Nov '06)

With our new Heritage Sub-Committee less than a month on the job, material relevant to the early history of the BHRDCA has been made available from a number of sources. We now have a substantial scanned volume of early 20th century print media extracts that we will endeavour to selectively publish here as time permits.

More recently, compelling evidence has been produced that will likely see the date for formal establishment of our first 'Reporter District' cricket competition pushed back by 4 years to 1890. Our thanks to Steve Flemming of the Fern Tree Gully District CA for this information.

New Sub-Committee Formed   (posted 7 Nov '06)

A heritage Sub-Committee has been established to research the association's history and that of it's affiliates. The appointed four members together with chairman Howard Wilson are initially charged with the following tasks -

        * gathering material relevant to our local sporting heritage and the BHRDCA.
       * to develop recommendations for the Committee of Management on the treatment and preservation of such material.
       * to develop working relationships with regional heritage organizations as appropriate to assist in achieving these aims.

The members of this sub-committee are listed on the "Administration" page and can be contacted through the Secretary.
