U21s LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO REGAIN WRIGHT SHIELD BERTH (posted 12 Nov '08)
After period of relative dominance our under 21 team has found the going a bit tough in the VMCU Neil Wright Shield competition for the past two seasons. This culminated at the end of 2007/08 in our relegation to the second tier of competition from which we must now emerge winners to regain an opportunity of playing for the Wright Shield in 2009/10. Our games are scheduled for - 23 Nov MCA v BHRDCA @ Prahran CC. 30 Nov BHRDCA v SDCCL @ Ormond CC. 07 Dec RDCA v BHRDCA @ Frankston CC.
14 Dec will be a reserve day with the final on 11 Jan (all Sundays). Any prospective players should be available for all dates and be appropriately VCR registered. They should also be aware that once having made themselves available and been selected to the final squad, should any of them withdraw from availability without a reason that is acceptable to the association they will likely face be suspended from regular competition. Thanks also to the Park Orchards CC for the use of their training facilities and equipment. A session will be conducted at Domeney Reserve (Mel: 35.E9) - Wed 19 Nov from 6:00pm till 7:30pm. The association invites expressions of interest from clubs & individuals regarding team management positions for our proposed representative squads this season. Inter-association matches are planned against neighbouring associations in all age-groups. We also intend entering teams in the VMCU Neil Wright U21 Shield (turf), Keith Mackay U16 Shield, Russell Allen U14 Shield and Keith Mitchell U12 Shield.
